Artist Statement

Angie Wyman graduated from Loughborough College of Art and Design in 1985, where she specialised in Embroidered Textiles. In 1986, she commenced part-time lecturing, alongside exhibiting her work nationally, including the prestigious Chelsea Crafts Fair. This led to Angie being invited to exhibit at the Royal Institute of British Architects, as part of the 'Stitched Textiles for Interiors' - Contemporary Textiles by Professional Embroiderers in 1987 and 'Texstyle at Smiths' in Smiths Gallery, Convent Garden. Angie has exhibited her work on an international basis since graduation.

Angie has also worked to public commission producing site-specific textiles for Arts Council England, West Midlands regional offices.

Since 1990, Angie has lectured full-time at the University of Cumbria  and is Course Leader for the MA Contemporary Applied Arts programme and Pathway Leader for Embroidery on the B.A (Hons.) Contemporary Applied Arts programme within the Faculty of the Arts. She has extensive experience working within higher education.

Angie has recently been involved with a 'knowledge and skills' transfer with textile producers and crafters in South Africa.
